<< A really really good weekend that I did not expect. >> My comments aren't working. That kinda sucks. Not that I get a lot of comments, but still. I would like things to WORK the way they are supposed to. Anyway, I know I can check into it and fix it, but it's not on my agenda today. So, whatever. The weekend turned out really good. On Friday, Dave and I decided to play it by ear and just decide what we wanted to do as it came along. We ended up just sitting on the deck with Brian and having a drink or two. Okay, DAVE and BRIAN had a drink or two, I just had some water. I also baked an apple pie to bring with to Crosslake. I was curled up on my swing before too long with pillows and a blanket and just rocking myself into la-la land, enjoying listening to the guys talk about GUY stuff. Whatever that is. Saturday morning, I got my crap in order and went to Dave's and got everything put into the car. We were about to leave to pick up April when Dave's son called and said he was in town and could he come over and have us met his girlfriend. Well, of COURSE we would love that, so we called April and told her we would be late and Tony and Haley came over and we sat on the deck and gabbed for a while. That was really really nice. Then we headed to get April, stop at Trish's to check out her garage sale and then off we went to Crosslake. We had such a good time!!! We immediately got on the pontoon and went out on the chain of lakes. We stopped at a lakeside restaurant, had lunch and a cold drink and off we went again. We went to an island that had trails and we hiked those. Then we found some fishing areas and tried our luck. I caught the first fish and the most fish, so that was fun. Dave was driving the boat, Doug was taking weeds off my and April's lines and removing fish for us, and it was perfect. We went back to the cabin, had a dinner of broiled walleye that we had caught earlier in the year, rice, dressing, salad, corn, and birthday cake for dessert. It was perfect!! Then a bonfire and a couple of games of Uno and it was time for bed. We were so tired after being in the sun all day!!! The next morning, I was up first, as usual. I had some coffee and crocheted for a while until the rest of them woke up. Then Dave gave me my birthday present, one item he really wanted me to have immediately since it was a Adrian Peterson Viking jersey, purple!!!, that he wanted me to wear that day. So, I changed and we got the cabin closed up again after having monkey bread for breakfast. We headed to the Mills' house for the Viking game. There were quite a few people there, including Heather's half brothers from California. They were two characters!!! Heather hadn't seen them in nearly 30 years, since she was really young and they hadn't been to Minnesota for the same amount of time, so it was so much fun getting to know them. After the game, we headed home and I ran to my house to put things away. Then back to Dave's, where we sat and gabbed for a long time. Doug had called Dave but he didn't want company, so he ignored the call. Well, of course, Doug came down shortly after on his bike and April joined us shortly after. We were getting hungry, so Dave and April ran back to her house to get the leftover food from the night before and Dave heated everything up and we finished it all off on the deck. It was nice. Doug and April stayed until 8:30 or so and then headed back home. And Dave and I just got ready for bed. It was a very busy weekend and we were beat!! But I woke up this morning, refreshed and ready to go. After work today, Dave is taking me out for my birthday dinner to Crab Night and then we will just come home and relax. So, what had the makings for a terrible weekend with doing NOTHING, turned out into a great time with friends. We made plans for the four of us to go to Jordon, Minnesota to pick apples and just have a nice weekend together. Doug and Dave both agreed to this, so I am hoping that's what's going to happen. Sometimes they make plans and then change them at the last minute. April and I really want to pick apples and both guys agreed, so there is hope on that one. But April and I decided if they change their minds, WE will still go and have fun without them. That's planned for either the second or third weekend in October. Okay. I have to get to work now. Friday's work load was HUGE and I still have some of THAT work to do, and then, of course, I have more that was sent over the weekend. So, a busy birthday for me!!!!! Have a good one! |
