<< A good Friday, I hope, and a busy weekend coming up. >>

A good day yesterday. Finally. I think I deserved it.

I feel like I was on an even keel for a change and things in my life are not quite as bad as they seemed just a few days earlier.

Yeah, PMS can do a number on ya!!!

Work was fine. I am glad that I saved some work for the next day because I really had nothing to do after that was done. I managed to run to JoAnne Fabrics to check out yarn. I am in need of the NEXT project since my Christmas craft project is almost finished already. (Although I decided to make TWO more, one for each of Dave's daughters, so I need to get back out to the garage to cut more wood tonight). Anyway, I LOVE to have the next project all lined up and I have decided to make an afghan for Dave since his ex-wife took the one he used to have on his chair. And tis the season to start thinking of winter and the cold temps coming our way. So, I found a nice MASCULINE pattern online and, once I had THAT, I was anxious to get the yarn and wind it into balls in preparation for the actual crocheting activity.

So, I ran to JoAnne's, however they did not have enough of the different colors I needed, so I figured I better check out Wally World since I was going there anyway to pick up no less than THREE girl's birthday presents. (Two for Dave's granddaughters for tomorrow's party, and one for my own niece.)

Like I said, I had nothing to do until the Admin people called an "emergency" conference call at 2:30. Whatever. What a HUGE emergency it was, too. Whatever. Just more stupid stuff.

But, of course, what happens? Bossy Man sends me TONS of files at exactly 2:25 and says that it will get me started for the next day. I had to email him back and told him I now had a meeting and I would not be able to do them until the next day.

His response?

Well, that will make Friday just THAT more interesting.

Great. So, I can look forward to my usual Friday, which will be packed with TOO much stuff to do, right after a day of NOTHING. I really hate that. Feast or famine.

After work, I ran to Wally World, bought my gifts, found all but four of the colors I need for the blanket. I will check at Ben Franklin later for the rest, but I have eight of the colors I need and it's enough to get started.

I went home. Took care of the dogs. Took a shower. Made some toast for dinner. And then ran over to Dave's, where I spent the rest of the evening. Dave was hungry and made himself a burger and talked me into eating one, too. I only could eat half of it, but he also had made some venison steak and mac and cheese, so it was WAY more than I could eat. He's a good cook!!!

Doug and April came over to visit. They haven't been over in a while so it was nice to see them. I was winding yarn while they were there, so it was a productive evening. Then we had to watch some football, so we went inside for that.

I was getting really tired. There's something about the crowd noise at football games that really puts me to sleep. I made the guys stay and watch the game and I just went to bed and fell asleep immediately. I didn't even hear Doug leave and apparently he yelled down the hall, "goodnight, Pamela!!" He calls me Pamela because the second time I met him last year, he forgot my name and called me Pamela instead of Paula and I have never let him forget it and I call him Mark. I even have him in my cell phone as Mark. He's a fun guy.

I didn't hear Dave come to bed. I was THAT out!!!

woke up this morning. Ran home to shower, eat and get ready for the day. Dave was up and made coffee so I was back over to his place for that before work.

And here I am.

Caffeined up and ready to start the day.

There's going to be a bonfire tonight if the rain holds off. Tomorrow morning, I am going to try to get my deck primed before I have to get in the car and ride 1.5 hours to Alexandria, where the birthday party is for Dave's granddaughters.

I told my mom I was not going to the bridal shower for my niece due to not wanting to drive 2.5 hours one way to Superior and then back again in one day just to go to a bridal shower.

Do you think I would have that time filled with stuff I NEED to do?

Nope. I am going to that cabin on Mille Lacs to watch the Vikings play with the whole group. April is only going because I am going, so I need to do that. But that will take the whole day!!!

I am going to bring my crocheting with so I can at least do something while watching the game. I hate to just SIT, you know!!

Today, of course is the anniversary of 9/11. I remember, as everyone else does, of course, what I was doing when I saw the towers fall. I was in Iowa, in a little hotel room with Jim, Amy and Jenner. We were traveling to Oklahoma to see Ivan graduate from Basic Training. I woke up to sites that I could not believe. And the day only got stranger and stranger as the rumors started flying and we were in the vehicle and only getting news from the radio. Wherever we stopped, people were spreading more and more rumors that turned out not to be true, but it was scary nonetheless. I remember the lines at the gas stations because some gas stations were jacking up their prices in the panic. I remember calling the army base and asking them if we would be allowed onto the base once we arrived later that day. I remember thinking we might want to turn back home after some friendly folks told us we would surely not be allowed on base since they were closing all the gates. I remember worrying about my son, because having just graduated from Basic Training, surely he would be traveling to some far off war. I was right about that one. I remember a lot of things.

<< welcome >>
