<< A long weekend, but pretty busy. >> When I got home from work on Friday, I dropped off some beer for Dave at his house. The Vikings were playing, you know. So, he needed beer for him and the guys who were most likely coming over. anyway, I then drove to my house, where I put my car in the garage, let the dogs out, and then, noticing that I left Dave's garage door open, went next door to shut it. When I was walking back home again, I stopped in my tracks. My yard looked different. It took me a minute to see it, but my fence was gone!!! Totally pulled out. I went to get a closer look and the holes had all been filled in, there was grass seed sprinkled on top. The lawn had been mowed where the fence WAS. It just all looked so, so, so ODD. But wonderful!!! I have wanted that fence gone for a long time. I mentioned it to Dave the other day, and the fact that I had no idea how I was going to pull those posts out by myself. But I never asked him to do it. He just went ahead and got it done for me. What an angel!!!! then I started wondering, so I went back into the house and took a look out the kitchen window, and sure enough, my deck was done!!!! The boards were all cut and nailed into place. Those were the two bigs projects I had planned for the weekend and Dave didn't want me to have to spend too much time doing it, so he did it for me. Again, what an angel!!! I called him to tell him thank you and he's just like a little kid, loving the kudos!!! That evening, we had a bonfire. That one lasted until 3:00 in the morning. The next morning, I pretty much got some stuff done around the house, got a nap in, and had another bonfire. Everyone said they wanted it to be an earlier night, so we cut it off at 2:00!!! Sunday, Dave had to go to his dad's birthday party out of town, so I got a LOT done around the house. I made three apple pies, I cleaned, I worked on my Christmas craft project, I visited with April at her house, I did some shopping, I got my recipe for Finnish pancakes out, I played on the computer for a short time, too. Once Dave was home with his son, I went over to visit for a bit. Later, April, Doug, and Brian came over and we had yet another bonfire. I was pretty tired but I still managed to last until 1:00 when they all started to go home. Yesterday was supposed to be a No Plan Day, but Dave had gotten SEVEN gunny sacks of corn from his uncle (Dave and his son picked it themselves the day before) So after I made breakfast for Doug, April, Trish, Dave and myself, the ladies all shucked corn while Dave removed the kernels and cooked it all up. I got into it so that after it was all husked, I was cutting the kernels off and Dave was cooking and everyone else disappeared. It was quite the project but we got it done by noon!! I had gone earlier in the day (before breakfast) to see Jenner. She was doing fine and we had a great visit. I wish I could have stayed longer but I had people coming over for food and I figured I had better get home and feed them!!!! I was tired, and really not feeling that well, so Dave put me to bed to rest while bagged up the corn and got it ready for various people. I slept really really long and before I knew it, Dave was waking me up, telling me it was time for dinner and he had made some tuna casserole. I ate like a pig!!!! Three helpings!! and two pieces of apple pie!!! Then I went home to take care of some stuff and then headed back, where I got out my lawn darts. Doug and Brian showed up and we played teams. Unfortunately I did not win, but it was so much fun!!! April came down later to visit and we sat around until 10:00 and then I went to bed. And today I am back to work with TONS of files to do and hardly any ambition!!! The kids all start school today and it's funny to see all the buses around town again. Driving home at 3:30 from work is always interesting when school is in. All those high schoolers out there with their own cars makes for driving in need of total concentration!!! Oh, did I mention that I drove Dave's mustang the other night? I loved it, but the steering has a LOT of play in it and he just learned how to fix it. But it was so cool to drive that 66 Mustang around town. LOVED IT!!! Okay. I better start work now. Have a lot to do, as I think I mentioned. |
