<< The trip is back on, only different. Again. >> Wow!! Had a fun weekend for a change!! LOL!! Okay, ALL my weekends are fun since I let Hubby go. Speaking of which, I sent him the divorce papers on Friday. Interesting to see his reaction. He, of course, KNOWS they are coming, but seeing sometimes makes things more believable. I hope he doesn't blow a gasket. I think that hope will be in vain. Anyway, back to the weekend. Friday was good. After work I took a nap, or at least TRIED to. No sleep for me apparently. I think I may have drifted off for a few minutes, but then I was wide awake, and not quite so ready for the things I wanted to do. I kept getting calls from Doug, telling me the EXACT time he would be over to Dave's for the planned bonfire. Dave was not supposed to be home until around 10:30 but we were starting early. I just let Doug say what Doug wanted to say and let it go. Then, of course, it started POURING. I told Doug that we were NOT going to have a fire, but he insisted that it would be done raining by 8:45. He was wrong. It stopped at 9:05. And he STILL said that we were having a bonfire. I said, whatever, but went over to Dave's to get the house open for people and relax there and wait for the festivities to start. Well, as soon as I got outside, there was Dave, in my driveway. He got home early and wanted to surprise me. And he DID!! So, I went over to his house, where we sat on the deck for a while and talked while Doug tried to get a fire burning with wet wood. He managed it, but it took a while. Everyone started showing up and we went down to the fire pit and had a great time. I stayed up too late, of course, and I was really tired when I woke up (without an alarm clock!!) at 6:00 the next morning to get ready to go to my mom's. Drove to mom's. Nearly got killed by an idiot passing on a curve. Made it to Mom's early. Went to my Grandma's house to see my great Uncle Art from Montana, who is 88 years old and will probably not make the trip here again. He's such a HOOT!! Too much fun laughing with him and his stories. Then ran back to my mom's to meet up with my sister and her grandson. Got back in the car and drove to my Uncle's summer place for a BBQ for my Had a great time. Got back to my mom's (which is an HOUR away. Too much CAR time!!) and was pretty tired, but had some dinner and then played lawn darts with my sister. Yes, I AM the lawn dart champion!!!! I beat her two outta three games. Then played ball with my Grand Nephew. He's a fun kid. Two years old and can talk like crazy!!! I went to bed early. Around 10:00. But I talked to Dave on the phone for about a half hour first, so it was probably around 10:30 before I was asleep. And I slept HARD!!! Woke up at 6:00 a.m. again. Got the bedroom ready to paint. The bedroom used to be mine many many years ago and I had painted a huge girl MOUSE on one of the walls when I lived there. The last time I was home, Mom mentioned that she would like to update that bedroom and I said we should paint over that damn mouse. She said that she knew the room needed to be painted but she did not want to lose the mouse that I had painted. I never knew she felt that way. I figured she just had other things to do rather than painting that room. Nope. She just didn't want to lose it. In fact, after I started painting over the mouse, she said I should paint another picture for her. She's so cute!! Anyway, so I started painting it a really nice caramel color brown. So warm and inviting. Not to mention tasty looking!!! Well, three coats later, I could still see MOUSE!!! So, I talked Mom into letting me so a faux finish in there and went to get a lighter brown paint and a sea sponge. It looks GREAT. I love it!!! And the best part? No more mouse showing through. Mom really loves it. She said it looks like that foil wallpaper that you sometimes see. After THAT, we met my sister, her grandson, her daughter and her daughter's boyfriend for lunch. That was fun!!! Then it was time to pack up the car and head home. I talked to Dave on the phone and he wanted me to meet him at the casino, where he was meeting up with his stepson for his stepson's 18th birthday. So, I went out of my way to meet them. I know he wanted to spend time with his stepson, so I made myself scarce. And blew $40 in about an hour. AND was still an hour away from home. After I blew my money, I just wanted to go home. I was so tired. It was raining and I HATE to drive in the rain. And I started thinking that I COULD have been home and that it was a real waste of time for me to go to the casino to meet Dave, since I didn't even sit with him anyway. Silly. But he really wanted to see me. I know he missed me while I was gone. Anyway, got home. Went to retrieve my key from the hidden "rock" and there was NO key. Amy, who was dogsitting, had taken it with her. Damn damn damn!! So, I walked over to Dave's house, since I knew he had a spare key. No key. I called him. He said that he was on his way home, about 45 minutes away yet and, "Sweetie, don't you remember that I put your key on my keyring and I have that with me."
I called Amy. She was only 15 minutes away and she came to give me my key back. She didn't realize that it was MY key in the rock and thought it was a spare. Well, it WAS originally a spare, but Jenner took my key and never gave it back, so I had to use the "rock" key until I got around to making a copy. In the meantime, the dogs knew I was home but WHY was I NOT coming in the house? It was causing them stress and worry. Silly dogs!! Wow, the entry is LONG and I'm not even done yet. Anyway, so I had gotten a call from April on the way home. She found a DIFFERENT trip for us that she wanted to talk to us about. This one is earlier, in December, and will be cheaper AND is at a brand new hotel. A Dream hotel that SHE always wanted to go to. And can we come by the deck tonight and talk about it? So, I got into my house finally, got my bag unpacked, my dogs and cat taken care of, and ran over to Dave's, who was arriving just was I got to him garage. Met Doug, April and Brian. The new trip is near Cancun, five nights, four full days, non stop flight on the way there, one connection on the way back, and with an upgrade to an ocean front room (which ARE beautiful, by the way), the price would be $818, including all fees and transfers. Can't beat that!!! So, it's a go and it's booked. April said that they were still going on the trip in January with Stewart, Heather and their kids, but she was really looking forward to THIS trip with Dave and I more. It will be just the four of us, which is what I wanted to begin with until Stewart poked his head into the plans. And started ruining things for everyone. Anyway, so, to make a long story short, we are booked for December 2nd or 3rd. I can't remember which, and it's just the four of us, and it will be fun!!! Oh, and we each get a $100 resort gift certificate and the guys said they would give us THEIRS so the ladies can do a day at the spa!! Woot!!! And there will be pyramids to climb and spas to attend and markets to shop in. Gonna be fun!!! Okay. That's about it. I just got 17 files from Bossy Man to transcribe. How can ANYONE talk that much???? |
