<< Another fun filled weekend. >> another fun weekend. Friday, I got a call from Dave, saying that we are all going to Shep's for a drink at 5:00. Okay. well, so much for my nap day. I ran home. Saw Dave and Doug over at Dave's playing with the '66 Mustang that Dave just bought. It looks so nice. It needs some work, but overall, it's a pretty car. The boys? Positively GIDDY over this piece of machinery. Anyway, since I have ALWAYS coveted a classic Mustang, I HAD to go over and at least SIT in it. Dave won't let me drive it yet until he gets the brakes all reworked. They work, but just not up to his standards. So, that's fine. However, all I got to do was LOOK at the car, drooling the whole time. I ran home to get in the shower before we went out. Doug had gone home before I got back to Dave's and then came to pick us up. We met Brian and Angel at Shep's and had a couple of drinks with them. Ran into Al, my mailman from work, and gabbed with him for a while. We were all going to go to Buffalo Wild Wings for some dinner after a bit, but Brian, Dave and I didn't really feel like going there, so Brian drove us back to his house, where we sat out on the deck for a while and talked. Brian had a box full of old jewelry that he got at an estate sale and told me to go through it and take what I wanted. I only wanted to take a long pearl necklace that I found, but Dave went through it and soon had quite a few necklaces around my neck and a ring on my pinky. He's so funny. I kept saying that it was ENOUGH and if he wanted to get rid of me, he had to only throw me in the lake and I would SINK due to the weight of the jewelry. I have already gotten compliments on the jewelry and people wanted to know where I got them. Too funny!!! I love vintage jewelry. Then we went back to Dave's house and sat on the deck. Eventually, Doug arrived and joined us. It was fun. The other ladies were all in Appleton, WI, for a girls' weekend. I was not invited, but that was due to me being a "newcomer" to the group and this had been planned for a LONG time. I did talk to April last night and she said I NEED to go next year. Anyway, so the guys were getting really goofy and Doug, when he gets a few too many beers in him, is really hard to follow as far as his conversation goes. He DID tell me that when the Vikings go to the Super Bowl this year, (as he is SURE they will) he is taking John and ME. And that's it. Dave doesn't even get to go because HE does not have Vikings flags on his car year round. Doug says I am a TRUE Viking fan and so I deserve to go with him. I know that if they DID go, I would be going to the Super Bowl with Doug, but I know that Dave is feeling a bit left out over it. And, truthfully, I would not want to go without him, but for now, it's fun to tease him about it. Saturday morning, had coffee on the deck at Dave's. Dave had an appointment in Pine River and wanted me to go along, but I declined, saying I had things to do. I got some stuff done around the house and took that nap I missed the day before. I really wasn't feeling too well and, after talking with the other people at the deck the night before, it was decided that since EVERYONE felt kinda sick, it was due to the mosquito repellents that we used to keep those nasty little buggers at bay. It was a bit of a chemical overkill. Saturday night, we were invited to Stewart's house for a BBQ, so we did that. We were asked to stay to play some poker but we were not feeling too energetic still, so we left after dinner and went home pretty much just sat around the house and watched some TV and I went home early to go to bed. Sunday morning, I got up early and went tanning. Got a call from Dave to come over for coffee, so I did that. We sat around until 10:00 when we finally got our butts moving to go mow our respective lawns. It took until 1:00 before I was done with mine and Dave had come over to help me after he was done with his. Then I got a call from Sam, saying that she was finally in true labor and asked if I would come and take Miss Alex for a while. I said I would, so got in the shower and went down to the hospital. I sat and visited with Sam for an hour or so because she was "bored". I took Alex home with me and I got dinner started. I had promised Dave I would make him some chicken and rice that day. I brought the chicken to his house to cook since we were planning on eating there. Then I took Alex back to my house, where we sat and played for a while and watched a movie together. then back to Dave's to eat. Then back to my house to play some more. I had to bring Alex back to the hospital where her father was waiting for her to take her home. At that time Sam's contractions were two minutes apart. I fully expected her to deliver by midnight last night but I still haven't gotten word, so I guess things slowed down again on her. They had given her those meds to speed things up but I know they were still going too slowly for Sam's taste!!! So, no word means no baby yet. I am going to wait a little longer before I call over there to see if anything is happening yet. I was so NOT looking forward to work today. I am a bit tired. Too much stuff going on. Oh, when I got back from dropping Alex off, Dave was moving his Mustang from where he had it parked so he could wash off his driveway. He then let it run and called me over. I got in and away we went. We took it for a jaunt around the city and it was so much FUN!!! We pulled into his drive and saw that April, Doug and Brian were up on his deck, waiting for us. They knew we were only going to be gone a short time since Dave left his garage and house wide open. He does NOT do that if he is going to be gone for long. So, we sat with them until the bugs came out and starting biting. Then they left and we went inside and gabbed for a bit. Then it was time for home and bed. Dave told me that he was going to let me drive the car but everyone was waiting for us so we had to wait for another day. Tonight we are going to the casino for crab night. We are thinking about taking the Mustang, but April and I both said to wait for THAT since the casino is 40 minutes away and the car has not been tested out on the open road yet. We do NOT want to get stranded. So, that's my weekend. No, I had no plans, but that did not mean the days were boring at all. Okay. Time for work. |
