<< I have nice, pretty, pink toenails again!!! >> had an exhausting weekend. Friday night, Dave and I pretty much hung out around on his deck, smoked, had a couple of drinks and Brian came over to visit with us. That was nice. Saturday morning, we got up and after coffee and breakfast, started working on Jenner's car. We bought the master switch for the windows. Took apart the door panel. Dave took off the rear tire to take a look at the brakes. He decided to go ahead and fix them himself, but when we took a look at all the rust on not only the rotors, but the brake lines, he did not want to touch it in case the line snapped and made things worse. So, he called around and got a good deal on getting the brakes done. We took it down to Tires Plus and talked to a guy he knows there. He got him to lower the price even further. Oh, and since we were there, he decided to go ahead and have the new tires put on and he would pay for it. He also got a better deal on that. We left the car, went to Jenner's to pick up a check for $100 (that was all she could give me for the repairs right now) and headed home. Got a call from Tires Plus, who said the front brakes and rotors were in just as bad shape. Stopped by there again. Dave took a look at them and said yes, they really need to be done (Dave used to work at a Tires Plus in another town before he got into sales) and talked them into giving us a break on the price. (The man really knows how to get things cheaper.) We left and went home for a bit. Oh, I forgot to tell you that the master switch was originally $71.70, but Dave got it for $57.75. His way of thinking is if you don't ask, you won't get. So, he always tries to get a better price. Anyway, so we got the call that the car was done. Went down there. Picked up the car. He drove it home because the door panel was still off, waiting for the master switch to be put in. Put the switch in. Didn't work. Damn!!! We decided that we had done all we could to try to fix the windows and we still has a chance to get the AC fixed later that day. I wanted one or the other to work so Jenner could at least breath in the car on hot days. Well, Dave called the service department of Chrysler and asked them what they thought it was and the guy said he was nearly positive that there was a broken wire in the area between the door and the car. So, we had to take the door off, removing all the electrical crap along the way, and check out the wires. Sure enough. One broken wire. Dave fixed that. Put the car back together. Tried the windows. Amen!!! They worked!!!!! I was so stinkin happy!!!! Dave wanted to detail the car before we gave it back, so I was busy cleaning out the interior of the car and he washed the outside. I got all the leather cleaned, the dash was spotless, the console was emptied of all the food wrappers and drink cups. It looked beautiful!!! We then took it up to a guy he knows that works for the local gas company and since one of his jobs is to recharge the AC units at residences, he had freon and gages and all sorts of stuff to check out AC units. We spent an hour there, trying to get the AC going. No go. It wasn't the freon. It was something electrical and while they were willing to dig into the problem, Dave could see I was running out of steam, so he said to forget it and we went to get some dinner. I called Jason to tell him that it was done and I would stop by and drop it off and pick up my car. He said he would just come over to Dave's with my car and switch out. That was fine. He did. And we sat and gabbed for a LONG time. He was so happy about the repairs being done. I told him I could not believe she was driving the car in that condition. He said that he had been bugging her about getting it fixed, so I guess I can't blame him for it. He left. We hung around a little longer and then watched TV and crashed. Yesterday, got up early, of course. I made coffee for us both. Dave got up a half hour later. I made breakfast and then he had to go to Alexandria to visit relatives. I went home and mowed my lawn, washed my car windows, painted my toenails, did six loads of laundry, vacuumed my whole house, swept and mopped the remaining floors, trimmed off branches on various trees in my yard, cut down about ten saplings that were just growing in stupid areas, did my dishes, cleaned out my fridge, cleaned out the litter box and I am sure there were a few other odds and ends in there, too. A very productive day, and weekend. Dave came home around 6:00 or so and came over. He told me that his ex-wife had shown his cousins pictures of me from Facebook and told them that I broke up her marriage. What a total bunch of shit!!! Dave and I didn't get together until well AFTER she moved out. So, that made me feel like shit. And I was not happy about it at all. Dave left shortly after to go play Bingo. He asked me to go along but I don't want to spend my money that way anymore so I said no. He left. And I felt like shit. I felt like he dropped this crap on me and then ran away. so, I was NOT in a good mood last night. He never called me or texted me like he usually does. I think he knew my mood and figured it was better to just leave me alone. I did text him once to let him know I was letting myself in his house to grab my wine I had left there. I really felt like having a glass to help me sleep since I was feeling anxious about what Judy has been telling people. Anyway, Dave apparently set his cousins straight and they just kept telling him that Judy still loves him completely. Yeah, THAT didn't set well with me, either. Anyway, Dave apologized for telling me this stuff and I have to agree that I really didn't need to know this. He knew it would only make me upset, but he had a hard time censoring himself. Whatever. But on the bright side of everything, I only am working TWO days this week, today and tomorrow and then I am off for FIVE days. We have Moondance Jam on Thursday. We were originally going to go on Wednesday but changed our minds on that. However, since I already had taken Wednesday off, I didn't see any really GOOD reason to change it and go to work on Wednesday. I have plenty of vacation time coming to me still, so it's all good. Besides, if I take only TWO days off, Bossy Man will save everything for me to do when I come back. If I have THREE days off, he will get another admin person to do some of the work. So, in the long run, it's better for me to take all three days. Okay. I think I am done here. I did my good deal for the weekend in fixing Jenner's car. And I got my house in order AND my toenails painted. Life can be good sometimes!!! |
