<< Never did get my car washed.......oops. >> Wow!! What a frickin busy weekend!!! Friday night was pretty good, even though I was still feeling a bit ill. I did some work around the house but generally just relaxed. I did get my divorce papers filled out as much as I can without Jim's input on his financials and the years and models of his vehicles. I need to get an email out to him about that stuff real soon so we can get this crap done. But it felt good to get THAT much done!!! Saturday, I woke up feeling pretty crappy again and so I was really SLOW moving. I did manage to get the house cleaned, vacuumed, dishes done, etc. And I was on the computer for some time. I did take a nap because I was still feeling run down. Dave was out of town fishing at Lake of the Woods, so I knew I had ALL weekend to do what I wanted to do and get my own stuff done. Somehow, when Dave is around, I get NOTHING done. I was invited to go out to a restaurant with a group of people for Sam Horn's birthday. She is Jeremy's wife and, while I like her a lot, she's a bit of a dangerous person. You have to be VERY careful what you tell her because she will spread it around. The first time I encountered this trait, we had been bowling and I told her that I could not invite my friends to the wedding because of Jim's request. Right after that, I went to Doug and April's house for a quick beer and April already heard the news. Apparently Sam got on the phone to her immediately. Too funny!!! so, I know first hand that if you tell Sam something, you might as well be making an announcement to the entire group. Anyway, so I went to the birthday party at a place called the Italian Gardens. It was fun. I had a good time and the food was awesome. It was served family style which is always pretty cool. Okay. I have a confession. It was the FIRST time in my life that I went to a restaurant, ordered a bottle of wine and they actually came out with it, opened it in front of me, and had me taste it. Can you tell I am a small town girl who does not get to the fancier places too often??? LOL Good thing I knew what to do, because I heard from one of the other ladies that the first time they did that to them, they just looked at the waiter and told them not to be shy and go ahead and give them a full glass. Too funny!!! Midwesterners......... Our waiter was from India, so that was pretty cool. He had a neat accent. This resort we went to hires people from all over the world to work summers for them and I have met more than one visitor to our country that worked there over the years. It's pretty cool. After dinner we went to Zorbaz again, which is Stewart's favorite hang out. The only reason I can figure is because they have TONS of skanky looking young women who go there. So, whatever. However, Sam (whose birthday it was) and April and I were all saying how much we really don't like that place. But that apparently does not matter. Stewart likes to get his way. I was a bit bored and still coughing my lungs up from this damn cold and so I was ready to leave early. But I stuck it out until around 11:00 when my ride said he was ready to go. I talked to Dave a couple of times that evening on the phone and that was probably the highlight of the after dinner event. When I got home, Dave called me again and I talked with both him and Doug for around an hour. Those guys really missed me, or at least some female company. I think they were starting to get tired of being just the two of them way up north with nothing but fishing and drinking to do, and only themselves to talk to. Apparently the nightlife consisted of one bar with a grand total of eight people in it, including the bartender and waitress. But they are coming back today. Dave said they should be home by the time I get off work. They were going fishing again today but changed their minds because they are both fried, both with fishing and by the sun. It will be nice to see Dave. Yesterday was a pretty busy day. I got up early, headed to the store to buy some boards for my deck. I could only transport eight of them in the trunk of my car safely, so that's all I bought for now. Got some old boards pulled up and checked out what I needed to get the new ones in place. Turns out some of the joists are getting a bit soft on the top where you nail into them so I had to shore them up with 2 x 4s. I ran out of them, so I had to hit the store again for more wood. while there, I talked with Jenner for the first time since right after the wedding. She wanted me to come over and take a look at her wedding gifts, so I did that and she showed me all her honeymoon pictures. They had such a good time on the houseboat. I stayed for well over an hour and then headed back home since I had more work to do on the deck. I did all I could without cutting the deck boards. They are just too heavy for me to use on my table saw without some help holding them steady, so I need to wait until Dave comes home, however I did manage to get up a few more old boards and shore up some more joists. I also took down a curtain on the side window next to the front door. I wanted to put some window film on that window and I managed to get that put into place. I really like it. It lets in more light but no one can see inside. Of course, that means, I can't see OUT that window anymore, either, but it just looks so much better than that ugly curtain I had there before. The window now looks like it has etched glass leaves all over it and it looks pretty cool. I got yet another call from Dave, saying they were done fishing and had even thought about coming home last night. I told them to just relax one more night and head home fresh in the morning where they won't have to worry about being too tired to drive. So that's what they are going to do. I guess that's about all I have. It was a busy weekend and I got a TON of things done, so I call it GOOD!!!! |
