<< A LONG weekend, but so much fun!!! >> What a fabulous weekend!!! Recap: (I will try to condense this so it's not so long, but no promises!!) Thursday: Worked. Took a nap after work. Got up. Got my stuff together. Started working on my computer, adding RAM and all. Was still getting the same error, so I there is SOMETHING wrong there. Not sure what. But I ran out of time because I had to pack for the long weekend away, AND Irene called me and said she got accepted into school and she wanted to come to celebrate with me, including bringing over pizza. I really did not have much time nor energy to have company, but I said okay. So, she brought her two children over and we had pizza. She stayed for two hours and then left. It was nice. Got the rest of my stuff done. Friday: Got up with NO energy. I knew I was heading out of town and going to have a great time, but still, I could NOT get motivated. Finally got to Dave's at 9:00. He called me while I was there, asking me to bring this and bring that for him since he forgot these things. Got everything put in his car, got his house locked up and headed outta town. Between the stop to pick up a couple of things then getting an iced coffee, it was nearly an hour later that I was outta town. Got to the cabin at 10:30 or so. Only Dave and Jeremy were there. And they were working on building steps leading down to the dock, so I pretty much had the afternoon to myself, getting the house in order and taking a nap and generally relaxing. Others started showing up late afternoon and it started getting noisy in there!! After dinner, which no one was willing to wait for so we grazed, we settled down for a game of poker. Which April and I won. (We split the pot. I had more chips than she, so I got the majority of the cash. NICE!! But we were both tired of playing and the guys get antsy when THEY can't play) The guys started another game (I opted OUT. I was tired!!!), but it was nearing midnight. The MAGIC hour for the start of fishing. So they guys went. And April and I watched them for a bit from the house and then went to bed. Dave came in around 2:30 a.m., head to toe ice cube!!! I couldn't stand for him to cuddle with me at first. Too damn cold!!!!! Fell right back to sleep. I was tired!!! Saturday: The first day of REAL fishing. I made breakfast for everyone. They all started waking up when they could smell the monkey bread baking. We got ourselves put together and we all went out fishing in two different boats. We started out grouped together, but Dave didn't want to be too close to them for some reason. He really is a bit of a loner, but luckily he was having fun with me in the boat with him. Now, I am NOT a boat person. I am NOT a water person. I get scared around water. My heart drops down to my stomach when I just SEE boats. But, for some reason, I was totally calm in the boat. I believe it's because I trust Dave completely with his boating skills and he is a very cautious person and he took very good care of me, making sure I was fine, doing everything for me, like making sure that I was comfortable, warm, and even baiting my hook for me. He was sweet. And I had FUN, even though it rained a bit and we were getting NO bites from walleyes at all. I DID catch a perch, though. Threw it back. NOT what we wanted. Went back to the house and took another nap. Dave went out again while the rest of the guys were running around town. Was woken up not once, but TWICE by people walking into my bedroom. The door does not lock and they thought it was the bathroom or something. I guess that was my cue to get my ass outta bed and join them. Had a great afternoon. We had cooked up some steaks for lunch and then fried fish for dinner. So nummy!!! We went into town to the Blue Goose bar and had a couple of drinks. The guys decided to do some pull tabs and so we each bought in with five bucks. Dave dealt them all out to us, and Jeremy was JUST asking what the top prize was. Dave was telling him it was $204 just as I pulled my first card and, yup, there was the $204!! I just said, "And here it is!!!" Everyone was pretty happy about that one. So, we bought in some more from our winnings and pulled another $100. So, we each came outta there with $45. Pretty cool. After it started getting dark, Dave and I went out again to fish. Wow!! What a fun time!! We had lighted bobbers, which I have never heard of before, and watching the bobbers go down into the water when you get a fish is really a cool thing to watch!!! We caught a few fish and had a great time. We would have stayed out there if two things hadn't happened. First my line broke on the last big walleye I caught. AND my fingers were starting to get really cold. So, it was time to get inside and warm up. Went back to the cabin. Some of the guys were there already and we got another poker came going. I was pretty beat by then. It was a LONG day with lots of fresh air and cold temperatures so I was ready for bed. I stayed up as long as I could, but the guys were still playing poker and no one was going down. So, I just went to bed. About an hour after I fell asleep, Doug crawled into my bedroom and pretended he was Dave. I didn't care who the hell was in there, I just told him that he had to the count of TEN to get OUT!! If they behave like kids, you have to treat them like kids. It worked. Dave apologized the next morning for the intrusion and I said it was fine. I was just woken up from a dead sleep and I am NOT at my best then. I had gotten right back to sleep and barely heard the REAL Dave crawl in later. The next morning, I knew everyone was leaving fairly early. I was hoping we could go fishing some more, but Doug was leaving with Dave's boat and Jeremy was leaving with Doug's boat, so there was no boat to go in. So, we got everyone else outta the house and then Dave and I cleaned it up. We are always the ones to do that. And that's fine because I know the rest of the people would just do a half ass job of it and call it good. But we got this place for FREE even though the owners have been renting it out for $1500 a week and they are FULL and they kept this weekend open just for us, without asking for a dime. That is really really nice. I finally met the owners this weekend. They are very nice people and their kids are sweet, too. So, the dishes were cleaned, the floors swept, the garbages empties, the beds stripped and it was time to go. Dave wanted to go to the casino for an hour, so we did that. Just about an hour on the dot!!! We were both pretty wiped from the weekend, so we went home. I just took care of my dogs and went to bed for a nap. I was kinda feeling bad on the way home because I hadn't heard from Jenner at all and it was Mother's Day and I got no message from her. For crying out loud, I got a message for a Happy Mother's Day from DAVE'S daughter, but not my own. I was kinda bumming about that, but figured maybe she left me a card at home. I got home and I saw she had left me a dozen red roses and a beautiful card. So, that made me feel much much better. I called her but she had her phone off since she was sleeping due to having to work that night. I left her a message thanking her. Dave later said he knew I wanted someone to take me out for a meal for mother's day and he knew he should have, and Jeremy even told him he should do that, and he apologized for NOT doing so. I invited him over for some dinner at my house so I ended up cooking for HIM instead of him taking me out, but I was okay with that because I was still so tired. After dinner, it was getting close to 9:00 and we both decided that we should just go home to our own houses and relax for a while. So, that's what I did. I did some work on the computer and then went to bed, finished watching my soap opera and fell asleep. Okay. Now I'm back at work and since Bossy Man did NOT give me much for work on Thursday (he forgot again that I had Friday off!!!!) I have got a TON of things to do. So, I will do that now. Have a great Monday!!! |
