<< Bridal shower, yard work, bingo >>
2009-04-27, 7:19 a.m.

It's Monday again, and I am SOOO not into work today.

I would rather be home, in bed.

Alas, this is my lot in life, so I here I am. Like a good worker bee!!!

Friday night, after work, Dave and I went out to eat at Rafferty's. They have the BEST pizza, and it's a nice, family atmosphere.

Then we just went home and made an early evening of it.

Saturday, I went to Jenner's house, visited for a short time before all three of us got into Jenner' car and to Superior.

Did our visiting there. My sister, Debbie, and I went down to the hall to decorate for the bridal shower and get all the food together and ready to go.

We had things well in hand, when my mom showed up and all chaos ensued.

She's not exactly the calmest person alive. So, she had her fingers in every little thing and generally driving us nuts. Debbie is much better at handling mom than I and basically told her to find a place to sit and do it!!!

It all came together, nicely.

Jenner was a bit shy around all these people, some of whom she probably hasn't seen in 10 years, but were invited because of their relationship with my mother or the fact that they were blood somehow.

Our deal was that we didn't want to invite people to the shower that were not invited to the wedding, but my Mom AND my Grandmother both wanted THIS person and THAT person invited to the shower.

Whatever.

But it was fun. I won a couple of the games they played. Jenner won a couple of times, too, but she refused to tell anyone since she was getting a ton of gifts and didn't to take prizes for games, too. She's so cute.

It was her, my mom and myself sitting at the head table for the food portion of the night and gift opening activities and she just did not want me to leave her alone. She was so uncomfortable being the center of attention that she needed her mom with her.

That was fine. Like Dave said, "I guess she does still need her mom, doesn't she?."

Course, I'm such a HORRIBLE mom, according to Jim, that it's amazing that I didn't just leave her to her own devices and run off on her.

That fucker Jim.

Oh, I ran into a man I used to know a LONG time ago and haven't seen in AGES on Saturday morning before we left town. He asked me if I was still married. I told him no and he immediately said that Jim was stupid for leaving me.

hee hee hee

I did tell him it was MY idea, but I felt kinda nice to get some reassurances from an outsider that I am NOT a horrible person. Anyway, I never did ask the guy if HE was still married or not, but it really doesn't matter to me. I am NOT looking for a man.

My younger sister, Vicki, had her son's birthday party on Sunday morning. Jenner and I wanted to leave and get home, but we had to wait until he opened his presents and we had cake. Finally got out of town at 12:30, but Jason is the SLOWEST driver AND he had to stop in Duluth (which is right across the bay from my hometown, so that tells you how far WE got) and he had to have lunch.

Okay. This guy can EAT!!!

My mom made him pancakes for breakfast around 9:00. Then we stopped at McDonalds so he can have breakfast AGAIN at 10:30. Then we had cake around noon. Then he had to stop at McDonalds in Duluth on our way out of town to eat AGAIN!!!!

Holy Cow!!!

Anyway, the man cannot eat and drive at the same time, so we sat in the parking lot while he ate, doing nothing.

We made another stop on the way home, about halfway because he was falling asleep and wanted to get out and stretch and get an energy drink. I kept telling him I would drive, but he didn't want me to.

Damn!!! I would gladly had driven because he is also the SLOWEST driver on the face of the earth!!!

I did not get to my own home until after 4:00.

That is 3.5 hours!!! For a trip that normally takes me just over two.

So, there went my plans for a nap in the afternoon before I headed out with Dave to go play bingo.

Yeah.

Then there's Dave.

He sent me a text, saying that I was SOOO spoiled.

I KNEW he did something for me while I was gone besides letting my dogs out.

Sure enough, I turned the corner, I see Dave outside by his garage, talking on the phone. He sees me, gets off the phone and runs over to my garage and opened my garage door for me. I saw what he did. He took all the stuff that Jason dumped out of the truck when he borrowed it (leaving it on the ground outside of the garage. These things were items that need to go to the landfill), and Dave put everything on his trailer, getting them ready to dispose of. AND he left his trailer in my yard so I can ADD to it with stuff from the inside of the garage. It looks SOOO much better. AND he picked up the leaves in my BACK yard, too, even blowing all of them away from my house and deck.

My yard looks GREAT!!! Now we just have to get things greener and I will have my park-like yard back again.

He said he was going to go over where the gazebo was and the grass had died with his pull behind rake for his lawn tractor and seed it for me.

And he is going to get some black dirt and fill in some of the dips in my yard.

Okay, can I just say one thing?

THIS man had already done more for my yard than my HUSBAND had in the 12 years we lived there.

What the hell?

And he doesn't even live there!!!!

I think I may be able to get him to mow my lawn, too!!!

Okay. I would never ask him to do that, but I have a feeling he will just do it.

So, anyway, went to bingo last night. I didn't win. Bummer. But I had fun, anyway. Played a little slots, too. Just had a nice, quiet evening and then went home, crawled into bed and only hit the snooze alarm TWICE this morning!!! hee hee hee

Now, it's time to get some stuff done here at work. Gonna be, hopefully, a fairly busy day so the time goes by quickly, and then a NICE QUIET EVENING, alone!!!! I am SOOO looking forward to that!

<< welcome >>
