<< An upsetting weekend. >>
2009-03-30, 7:11 a.m.

So, my mom came. And my mom went.

And that's about all I can say about here visit.

It was short. It was quiet. And it was what it was.

She left around 2:00 or so on Saturday, so I had plenty of time to go visit Dave for a bit and then head back home, take a short little lie down, and then get up, curl my hair, do my face, get all dolled up, and get over to Doug's house for our ride to the party.

Yeah.

We first went to a bar that is the birthday boy's favorite place to drink. Had one there. Then it was off to the restaurant, where the table was set up with balloons and party favors. Too funny for a 37 year old's birthday.

The birthday boy's father paid for everyone's dinner and drinks that night. It heard it was well over $500!!!

Yikes!!!!

But they are incredibly wealthy, so I guess it's all relative. It would be like me picking up the tab at McDonalds for 20 people. Quite do-able.

Then we went to another bar where things kinda fell apart for me.

I was so damn full from the dinner. Uncomfortably so.

Anyway, I really wasn't much in the mood for drinking anyway. Had one drink there and then I was done. I was more than ready to go home. My ride wasn't however, so I arranged to go home with someone else who was leaving shortly.

Well, went out with a smoke. And when I came back in, they were gone.

Yeah. They left without saying a word.

That was kinda rude, I thought.

So, I was stuck with the guys.

All the guys. The guys who were drunk and acting silly over this young woman who was hanging around the group.

Turns out the reason why the ladies all wanted to leave early was because of this woman.

Seriously, she was so obvious that she wanted one of the guys, ANY of the guys!!!

Yeah, you know the type.

Anyway, so, I had to stick around longer than I wanted to. That will teach ME to ride with someone.

In the future, I will drive myself.

When we finally got back to the birthday boy's house (we took his vehicle, but he didn't drive), Dave and I were sitting in the DD's car, waiting to get going home, and we saw through the garage windows one of the guys kissing this girl. (Yeah, she was too drunk to drive, so they decided to bring her with us and she would stay overnight at the birthday boy's house. The married birthday boy's house.) Anyway, the guy kissing her? In a 6.5 year committed relationship.

So, that left a very bad taste in my mouth about him. I really lost a lot of respect for this man.

Once we were dropped off at home, Dave and I talked about what we had seen. Yesterday I told Dave that while I like the guy, I have really lost a lot of respect for him. I won't say a word to his girlfriend, but it really makes me wonder about these people I am hanging with.

The birthday boy is always kissing and making passes at other women in bars. He does tell his wife about it, but still, that behavior just makes me sick.

And so I wonder if ALL the guys do that stuff when they are out together?

If so, I want nothing to do with it.

Disgusting, teenager behavior.

So, I have pretty much decided NOT to go out with the whole group anymore. I am just sick of the immaturity.

Moving on.

Yesterday morning, I was up bright and early. Went tanning. Went shopping. Went to get an iced coffee. Did my work out. Got in the shower. Started working on the bride doll I am making for Jenner's bridal shower.

Then Dave called me. He was heading to his daughter's new house in a town around 1.2 hours away and asked if I wanted to go for a ride. I said sure, since I had met here before and we got along great AND I wanted to see her new house. Plus, I wanted to meet her three daughters. I have only seen pictures of them and they are just so sweet looking.

I brought my crocheting along so I could work on that in the car and feel like I was getting things done.

It was a very uneventful drive, just nice and quiet with good conversation.

Got to Nikki's house. Did the tour. Met her daughters, who were all shy with me for, oh, about THREE minutes!! Then they were all over me. I love kids, especially little girls, and they take to me pretty quickly, too.

In fact, Haley, the oldest, would NOT let me go when it came time to leave. She just hung onto me and that was it. I was either going to STAY or she was coming with me!!!

Too cute.

Then we drove back home, picking up dinner along the way.

Got home, decided to go to bingo, so I had around 15 minutes to get the dogs out and get my stuff together and do whatever I had wanted to do in the house and get back in the car for another 40 minute drive.

That was fun.

Got home late, of course, and now I am tired.

I am looking forward to getting home today and just relaxing. I am NOT doing anything.

I was invited to go to Crab Night for dinner at the casino tonight, but I am going to turn that one down. It's with some of the people that I was having a moral issue with on Saturday night, so I am really not feeling too badly about missing out on it.

I am looking forward to just sitting at home tonight and crocheting. And probably watching some TV.

Wednesday night is Karaoke night, of course, but I have decided NOT to go out then, either. I am meeting Jenner in the late afternoon at the florist and I have a feeling that is about all the socializing I will want to do that day.

Well, we are in a winter storm warning, starting late today and going into WEDNESDAY morning.

Yeah. They are predicting 4-8 inches, with ten inches in some areas.

Yeah. Nice.

The snow JUST melted off my roof AGAIN, and now we are going to get a ton more.

Damn damn damn!!!

Oh well. It IS Minnesota, right?

K. Got work to do.

Have a good day.

<< welcome >>
