Damn!!!

I got an offer to go on a trip to Savannah, Georgia in April with April (LOL!!) and Trish and Trish's mom.

It's a pretty cheap trip.

It would be fun.

It would be RELAXING. Not too much siteseeing. Just sitting in this beautiful old row house with a private courtyard.

Within blocks of shopping.

Within blocks of dining.

I saw pictures of it.

It's beautiful.

Did I want to go?

Hells yes!!!

Am I going to go??

Hells no.

Damn.

The reason why I am not going on this trip?

Because I have to be an adult and make sure that I can pay for my daughter's wedding.

I can't spend $700 on myself right before the wedding.

I would feel all kinds of guilty.

So, I need to tell April today that I cannot go.

Besides, I am saving up for a trip to Las Vegas in the near future and I can't take TWO trips.

I am just heartsick.

I need a trip so badly.

Work yesterday was good. Busy. All day long.

Did lots of time entries and reports.

Got a lot out the door. I think the mailman was going to have a heartattack when he saw how much mail I had for him to carry.

Yeah, well they have to earn that extra $.02 they are going to be charging in May.

I hear from my mailman that they post office just is not doing too well right now. I believe e-mail and faxing has a lot to do with that.

Technology kills another business.

I, myself, am required to e-mail or fax as much as I can. I am being required to cut down on my faxing through the phone lines, however, and use the fax program on my computer.

That would be fine, however, since I have started using it this week, I have sent five things to people with attachments and only one of them actually went through, so I ended up having to fax them through the phone line anyway.

Gee, what a time saver THAT is!!!

Besides, in order for them to be faxed through my computer, first I have to get the attachments ONTO my computer, and since my boss does NOT scan his items to me, but faxes them, I need to take them and SCAN them first, save them into a file, and THEN fax them.

So, let's see......instead of just grabbing something off the fax machine and refaxing it to someone else, I have to grab the item, scan it into my computer, rename it, set up the fax online thingy, attach the document, and then send it. And THEN, when I get a call saying that the thing did NOT go through, I have to take it and fax it the regular way anyway.

Wow!! What a time saver!!!!

All this to save, what???, 20 cents worth of phone time?

Yeah. Gotta love technology.

Yeah, so I mentioned to my district manager, who is the one pushing me to use the new computer fax thingy, that nothing is going through, I get a nice e-mail from the IT person in the Cities. You know, the one that REFUSED to give me information the other day so I could get my scanner working properly. Anyway, SHE starts asking me if I am doing it right.

Fuck you.

I am NOT stupid. I KNOW how to work computers. I was an IT person MYSELF at one time.

Yes, of course, I am doing it right.

I can't help it if the stupid program is full of bugs so it doesn't fax the attachments.

Two of the five attempts that I made on this stupid thing were to the district manager and she told me she didn't get the attachments.

One was to a lawyer who needed the info I was sending ASAP.

I am sure they thought it was real nice for them to think they got the info they needed to bring to court, just to have nothing but the intro letter.

Nice, eh?

Anyway, I will do what I am told. And since they want me to do it THIS way, I will do it THIS way. And damn the consequences.

Oh, and they are taking my phones away.

We will be getting voice over internet phones here.

Gee, another great idea.

So, instead of having an actual PHONE on my desk, I will be receiving calling through my computer. Sounds pretty cool, right?

Sure does.

Until you monitor all the e-mails from the people in the Cities (on which phone system I will be attaced) complaining about how the phones are down again. And how the calls are being dropped. And how they hear echoes. And how they hear weird music. And how the customers can't hear.

Why all this crap? To save the company money.

Yipee.

God, I'm a bitch today.

I blame the disappointment in the trip thing.

Moving on......again.

After work, I went and did a little shopping. I wanted to get a new shirt for Angel's birthday party on Friday. I could not find one......so I bought two. I'll decide on Friday which one I wear.

Then I went tanning. I really needed it. The sky has been gray and icky and raining for two days.

Then I stopped by my local Super America to pick up some milk and smokes.

For my neighbor.

God, I am such a pushover!!! LOL

He called me at work yesterday and asked if I was stopping anywhere after work. I said yes and he asked if I would pick up milk and smokes for him. I said sure, then told him where I was going. He said that SA had better prices and would I mind stopping THERE instead of getting them where I was going.

He's so funny.

It was NOT a problem, since it is right on the way home.

And when I got home, he had shoveled the last of the snow crap off my driveway for me, so I won't complain about a THING!!!

I dropped off his stuff for him and then went home. Ate some dinner. Listened to some music. Took a shower. And then Dave came over and we sat and listened to music and talked.

Then Doug called and we headed down there. The guys are planning a trip because Brian got a new job and they are celebrating. So they are trying to figure out where they are going.

So far, all they have is the dates set up. It's next week already. Brian needs to start his new job by March 1st, earlier if he can manage it, so the guys are looking at all sorts of options in Mexico.

April WAS invited to go, too, but she refused to since she would be the only female. And she would go if I could go, but since I still haven't even gotten my birth certificate back yet to get my passport, there is no way I could go.

So, she said no, since I am not going.

And thus came up the trip to Savannah, which I can't go to either.

damn damn damn

Okay. Gotta get busy here at work. Bossy Man is coming in today. yipee. I'll just do my little one person pity party by myself for a few more minutes and then move on.....LOL
